"Inspiring and terrifying at the same time"
This past weekend I was invited by Dr. Julie Ducharme to share my emotionally charged speech about how the HERO mindset saved me from the traps of sex trafficking and drug addiction after I suddenly became homeless at 16 years old. What's more, in that very room sat one of the youth I have been mentoring for the past few years. One of whom I can absolutely envision standing on that stage one day, sharing her story of perseverance. This teen was one who motivated me to write my #1 best-selling book Perfectly Flawed: A Veteran's Journey from Homeless to Hero. If I can save just ONE LIFE, my purpose will be fulfilled.
After I spoke, I received an abundance of support and positive feedback on my story. The words of Mr. Black stood out as he pulled me aside and said "your story is incredibly inspiring and terrifying at the same time". I giggled nervously and he said "I'm serious, there needs to be a movie on your story." Because I lived (and survived) it, I sometimes forget how impactful my story is to those who hear it.
1/3 of Americans are currently dissatisfied with their lives RIGHT NOW. That means each and every one of us knows someone who needs help finding their way back to the HERO mindset. I wrote my story because I believe we can change the world through the butterfly effect. I encourage you to read my book and share it with someone you know. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
